Places of interest in NW3

2 Willow Road

2 Willow Road is part of a terrace of three houses in Hampstead, London designed by architect ErnÅ? Goldfinger and built in 1938. It has been managed by the National Trust since 1995 and is open to the public. It was one of the first modernist buildings acquired by the Trust, giving rise to some controversy. Goldfinger lived there with his wife Ursula and their children until his death in 1987.

Isokon building

The Isokon building in Lawn Road, Hampstead, London is a concrete block of 34 flats designed by architect Wells Coates for Molly and Jack Pritchard. They were built between 1933 and 1934 as an experiment in communal living. Most of the flats had very small kitchens as there was a large communal kitchen for the preparation of meals, connected to the residential floors via a dumb waiter. Services, including laundry and shoe-shining, were provided on site.

Belsize Park tube station

London Bus routes 168, C11 and Night routes N5 pass the station and walk 5mins to the station for bus route 268.

Essex Road railway station

At the lower level the lifts and staircase are connected to the platforms via a passageway and a short staircase rising between the two tunnels. The Underground's former operation of the station is evident from the unused and rusty fourth rail which once provided a return of the current from the tube trains serving the line. The third rail is still in use, with return now through the running rails. Signs at street and platform level still mention Network SouthEast, even though it is now First Capital Connect that serves this station. Trains do not serve the line during late evenings and at weekends, being diverted to London King's Cross instead.

City Road tube station

City Road is a disused London Underground station in Islington. It was one of the stations built when the City & South London Railway (C&SLR) (now part of the Northern line) opened its extension from Moorgate to Angel on 17 November 1901. It is located between Old Street and Angel.
