Chigwell tube station

The Woodford to Ilford loop was largely integrated into the London Underground Central Line as part of the London Passenger Transport Board's "New Works Programme" of 1935 - 1940, which saw an extension of electric tube services into north-east London. As part of this work the station closed on 29 November 1947.[2] Electric Underground trains served the station from 21 November 1948.[2]

Hainault tube station

Typical off-peak service level is:

Grange Hill tube station

From the mid 1960s until the early 1990s the Woodford-Hainault section was largely separately operated from the rest of the Central Line, using four car (later three car) trains of 1960 Stock. These trains were adapted for Automatic Train Operation (ATO); the Woodford-Hainault section became the testing ground for ATO on the Victoria Line. The separate operation has now been abolished and through trains to Central London via Hainault now operate. At the beginning of the morning and evening peak periods, some trains starting from Hainault depot enter service at Grange Hill and work to central London via Woodford although in the current timetable, no trains return to Hainault depot via Grange Hill, doing so instead via Newbury Park and Hainault.

London Charterhouse

Charterhouse is a private residence, but is open for pre-booked guided tours (see website); and the chapel can be viewed as part of London Open House.

St John's Gate, Clerkenwell

St John's Gate is one of the few tangible remains from Clerkenwell's monastic past, it was built in 1504 by Prior Thomas Docwra as the south entrance to the inner precinct of the Priory of the Knights of Saint John - the Knights Hospitallers. The substructure is of brick, the north and south façades of stone. After centuries of decay and much rebuilding, very little of the stone facing is original; heavily restored in the 19th century, the gate today is in large part a Victorian recreation, the handiwork of a succession of architects ? W. P. Griffiths, R. Norman Shaw, and J. Oldrid Scott.
