Painshill Park

Painshill Park?also referred to as "Pains Hill" in some nineteenth century texts[1]?near Cobham, Surrey, England, was developed between 1738 and 1773 by the Hon. Charles Hamilton, 9th son and 14th child of the 6th Earl of Abercorn. It is one of the finest examples of an 18th Century English Landscape Park.

The Homewood

The Homewood was Gwynne's first house project and his lasting favourite. His influences included Le Corbusier and Mies van der Rohe, fathers of the modernist International Style that took hold in the 1920s. Like Le Corbusier and Frank Lloyd Wright before him, he designed everything including the furniture and fittings, even the grounds. But unlike Wright, he emphasised the grounds being arranged for the house rather than the house built for the grounds. He created two models of measurement used throughout to regulate proportions. The vertical model was 20 inches and multiples of this would delineate everything upright, for example, from window ledges, to window and ceiling heights.

Barnes Railway Bridge

The bridge was given protection as a Grade II listed structure in 1983.[2]

Chiswick Bridge

A new arterial road, now the A316 road was given Royal Assent on 3 August 1928, and construction began in 1930.[3] The construction of the road required two new bridges to be built, at Twickenham and Chiswick.[6] The proposal was authorised in 1928 and construction began in the same year.[5] The bridge, along with the newly built Twickenham Bridge and the rebuilt Hampton Court Bridge, was opened by Edward, Prince of Wales on 3 July 1933,[6] and the ferry service was permanently closed.[3]

Barnes Bridge railway station

The bridge is currently undergoing a major re-painting and the adjacent footpath across the Thames is subject to closure during this process.
